Abstract: The CMS Tier1 center provides seamless access to a large storage facility used by thousands of physicists from all over U.S. universities. Accurate data management is one of the major duties for the CMS Tier1 team. Files are stored on several deployed systems and their management is not anymore an easy task. The amount of data increases with each CERN¹s LHC data taking and its processing. The deployment of new hardware and software systems increases the administration complexity. In this talk I will present Some of the lessons we learnt while managing such a storage System.
