 Positions in computer science at University of Tartu


University of Tartu, Estonia <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estonia>, is a
leading research-intensive university in the Baltics. Its Institute of
Computer Science is implementing an ambitious plan to strengthen the
quality of its research and teaching and to enhance its international
projection and linkage with industry. As part of this plan, four new Senior
Lecturer vacancies have been opened in the fields of Software Engineering,
Data Management, Computer Security and Distributed Systems.

Applications for these positions are sought from ambitious early or
mid-career academics seeking a next step in their careers. The successful
candidates will have a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline and
a significant research track record in one of the above fields, evidenced
by scholarly and/or industrial impact. Other requirements include
significant University teaching experience, successful supervision of
Masters and/or PhD students, and the ability to integrate into or
complement one of the Institute's research teams, listed at
http://www.cs.ut.ee/en/. The working language for this position is English.

The position is initially for five years, renewable according to University
regulations. Salary will be in the range of 2000-3000 euro/month depending
on qualifications and experience. Other benefits include 56 days of annual
leave and a sabbatical semester during the 5-year appointment.

In the Estonian system, Senior Lecturer (Docent) is the position
immediately below Professor. Senior lecturers are expected to conduct
research independently and to actively supervise research students. The
teaching load is 7h of contact time per week.

University of Tartu (est. 1632) is ranked 350-400 by THE ranking, and is in
the top 1% of Engineering by ISI Thompson Reuters. The Institute of
Computer Science has currently over 500 students and 50 full-time academic
and research staff, out of which 20% are international.
