Something to think about, we can nominate 1 or 2 UG students from our
REU site.

Dear Dr. Ioan Raicu,

As your Summer REU Site Program gets underway, the Council on
Undergraduate Research and the National Science Foundation invite you to
nominate a REU student researcher from your program to participate in
our */Research Experiences for Undergraduates Symposium (REUS)/*. This
symposium is an opportunity for REU student researchers to present their
research in a poster format to fellow REU students, NSF program
directors, and other REU faculty. In addition, students will attend
sessions on career opportunities in the science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics fields; learn about NSF funding available
for graduate school; and participate in professional development sessions.

*Save the Dates:*

*Nominations—Open July 7 until August 18*

Symposium—October 23-24, 2016

The symposium will be /October 23-24, 2016 at the Hilton Arlington in
Arlington, Virginia/. To learn more about the REUS program, please
visit our website
<http://www.cur.org/conferences_and_events/student_events/reu/>.
*Nominations will be open July 7^th -August 18^th , 2016 at the
following link: *how to nominate a student
<http://members.cur.org/members_online/submissions/substart.asp?action=welcome&cid=169>**

Each REU Site PI may nominate ONE undergraduate from the 2016 summer
program (or a team of two undergraduates presenting one, collaborative
poster). Due to space limitations in the NSF venue in which we present
here will be a limit of approximately 120 REU projects that can be
displayed, so we anticipate that the selection process will be
competitive. The REU Symposium selection process will be guided by a
variety of criteria, some of which are NSF’s Broadening Participation
initiative, the quality and uniqueness of research, and the student(s)’s
presentation ability.

Once student nominees have been selected, registration and housing
information will be made available to selected students and REU PIs.
The REU site or the student’s home institution will be responsible for
covering registration, hotel, and travel expenses. At this time, travel
and registration scholarships are not available from CUR.

If you have any questions regarding the REUS program, please contact
Lindsey Thomas, Manager for Student Programs, at Lthomas at cur.org
<mailto:Lthomas at cur.org> or 202-783-4810 x210.

Sincerely,

Beth Ambos
