Title: Smart, Cheap, and (mostly) Controlled: Thinking about the Industrial Internet

Abstract: We are increasingly living in a world of adaptive systems, driven by continuous data acquisition and analysis. In this talk, I'll describe several factors driving these developments, as well as a plethora of open research and engineering issues that remain to be addressed.

Bio: Narayan Desai is a principal engineer at Ericsson, where he works on system software and design for the industrial internet. Prior to this, he was at Argonne National Lab for 14 years, working on issues in resource and system management, system design, cloud computing, and high throughput analysis of metagenomic data.
